Therapy for Authors and Writers 〰️

Wale Okerayi LMHC, LPC

My priority is always you and creating a safe therapeutic space.

Curious about how I can help you in your healing process?

Hi There!

My name is Wale and I’m a first generation Nigerian American woman (she/her) practicing as a licensed mental health therapist in New York State and Texas.

I believe that therapy can not and should not look the same for everybody. In my practice, I like to structure the therapy around you, your needs, and identities. In order to do that, I always take a collaborative and humanistic approach with every client. My goal in each session is to create a safe and judgment free zone so that you can feel free to show up as your authentic self.

FAQs

+ Do you offer virtual or in person sessions?

Yes! I offer virtual sessions that can take place via phone or tele-health video platforms. Due to COVID-19, remote therapy is my main platform with the hopes of transitioning to in person therapy for folks who live in Houston, TX.

+ How long do sessions typically last and how often are they?

I offer 45-50 minute weekly sessions, once a week during a time that fits best within your schedule. Weekly sessions allow us to build trust and rapport within our therapeutic relationship. There is also room to shift the frequencies of our sessions throughout the course of our relationship if it is appropriate.

+ How much are sessions and do you accept insurance?

Sessions are $185 for individuals and $235 for couples, for those paying out of pocket. For those using insurance, I am an out-of-network provider. Many insurance companies provide out-of-network coverage, some as high as 65-80% of the cost. It is in your best interest to check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • Do I have (out-of-network) mental health insurance benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session (what do you consider a “fair and reasonable rate”?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

I also offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments depending on financial hardship which can be discussed in our initial phone consultation. If you have any more questions, please contact me to learn more.

+ I’m ready to take the next step, what do I do?

Awesome! You can reach out to schedule a free phone consultation. This will give us the opportunity to discuss my style of therapy and your therapeutic goals, as well as any questions or concerns you may have about therapy.

If you choose to move forward with me, we will schedule our first session together and I will send you some paperwork to fill out prior to our first session. I will also share the HIPAA compliant virtual link where our session will be taking place.

I am looking forward to meeting you soon!
